About

MISSION

The mission of the Islamic Center of Southern California Community Archive is to document and preserve the history and memory of the Center. Through collecting records, the archives will record the evolution of the Center, its interpretation of Islam, and the challenges it has faced in fulfilling its unique vision of an American Muslim identity. Through preserving these records and providing access to them, the archives will be a resource for future generations and scholars who hope to learn from its example and to a community whose identity is rooted in being a part of American society with roots in Islam.

VISION

The Islamic Center of Southern California has built a community around a socially responsible American Muslim identity. It reflects the diversity of Southern California and is a resource for all that are interested in learning about the teachings and values of Islam. The archives will document and support this vision. Preserving the memory of the Center will help strengthen the Muslim American identity and greater Los Angeles Muslim community. Providing access to its records will ensure that the Center continues to be a resource for those who want to study its interpretation of Islam. Documenting its history will allow subsequent generations to learn from past challenges and prepare for the future.
